Some thoughts as I drove
This morning I went out and as I drove I saw a hundred sites that are normal to me now but yet I saw them as so interesting. I saw a man carrying a basket of live chickens on his head, furniture displayed by the side of the busy road, a man wearing sunglasses welding a metal gate, and women talking as they sat on the ground selling produce. I saw little barefoot children wearing fluffy oversized sweaters because the weather has turned cooler. I drove by trucks that look like what my grandpa drove around the time of WWII, maybe some of these survived WWII! I waved to a multitude of smiling children all wanting attention. I got fumigated by a diesel minibus just ahead of me. A few gentlemen in suits walked on the side of the road. I went by street vendors selling newspapers and fruit. I saw women on the ground pounding rocks into gravel to sell. I waved at an Indian lady with a pretty scarf around her head as she let me go first in the round-about. And I sadly turned down two ladies with babies on their backs selling hand-made pottery. These are the people and things that I saw that made me wonder what God is doing in bringing them all here to Lusaka. It is normal, it is interesting, it is daily life. (I would love to have photos but like I mentioned...I was driving!)
