Goin' Bananas

This is so cool. The banana tree sprouts this huge 1 foot or longer big brown pod-type thing. Then it begins to open. When you stand under it you can see tiny bananas up under the leaves of the pod. Then it opens more and the young bananas are revealed. They take about 4 months to ripen from this point. We are just now eating and enjoying a bunch of bananas that sprouted just after we arrived in July.
