Pelted with ?

For the past month our roof has been pelted with these ? seed pod things. They are about the size of small walnuts. We have four of these trees which shade the bedroom side of our house, which we are grateful for but we have spent a few nights being startled out of sleep by the bombardment of these on a windy night. There are probably several hundred left to go! We just laugh now when we hear them hit and roll off. Kelly woke one morning and said she had a hard time sleeping because of the hail! It sounds like occasional hail on a tin roof. It's like living in a pole barn. Ha.
