A Beautiful Drive

We took a drive out the Columbia River area to climb the second largest rock in the world - Beacon Rock, named by Lewis and Clark. The trail was closed due to a rock slide so we drove up further to Bonneville Dam and Lock. They had a great tour of the hydroelectric power plant, one of the longest escalators in the world and interesting salmon/fish displays. The salmon and other fish must get back and forth through the dam so they have created 'fish ladders', seen as the cement steps of water in the last photo. We could even see fish swimming by in an underwater viewing room. We really loved this area. Keith also saw his cousin, Ben, for an early breakfast the next day but I forgot to give him the camera! Sorry Ben.
