Internet, Exchange rate & Spending Millions!
Hello All,
We won't be able to post pics for awhile, with the wireless ISP provider that AZ has, we are only allowed 2GB of bandwidth. Fortunately for us most of it was used up before we arrived, I was a little concerned that we burned it up with pics! So right now we are on an e-mail only trial to see how that works. I am writing this offline and will post later on.
We are spending millions! Kwacha that is. The exchange rate is around K4700.00 for $1 US dollar. I exchanged $2000 yesterday which gave me K9,400,000! The other thing to bear in mind is that a K50,000 is their biggest bill, roughly equal to $7. They didn't have very many, so the next biggest was K20,000. Basically, I had bundles of money hid all over me!
Chet Burns and I went shopping for appliances - Stove & Refridgerator. The stove cost 2,250,000 and the refridge was 3,995,000! After lunch we shopped for our living room furniture at a local outdoor market. We chose the least ugly, buying a sofa, chair & love seat set for 1,000,ooo. They beat the dust off with rags and carried it to our truck. Actually, once in our living room it doesn't look too bad. Glad to have what we do.
Today we will hopefully go look at vehicles after lunch. I pretty much have decided on a Toyota Land Cruiser. The roads are much more rugged than I remember and especially the one out to the new farm! So I am thinking of a heavy duty vehicle that will last.

What a great idea to keep everyone informed and give us a chance to keep in touch with you guys. Great to see and hear the tales of missionary life. We will be praying that God will use your entire family in a might way!
