Around our neighborhood

I would often take our dog Sally for walks around our neighborhood. There is evidence that it once had nicer properties and paved roads. Since the fall of copper prices in the late 1970's (largest Zambian export) the economy hasn't been good. Here you can see the bit of pavement left. Almost all the plots have wall-fences and metal gates. This green one has some neat welding - many do. I also took some photos to show the water in the ditches with the extreme amounts of rain. The little shack is a make-shift stand where a lady sells produce just down from our gate. The last shot is up the road toward our house. We were fortunate to live on a nicely paved road - not too many like that.
