Small Business in Zambia

Today I had the oppurtunity to go with AZ missionary Chet Burns to check up on some small businesses today. ACTION Zambia partnered with Kaunde Square Baptist Church to help start small businesses for some of its ladies. I was very impressed with what I saw. Chet & I were doing some follow up with the ladies to see how their businesses were doing. The church & ACTION loaned each lady K300,000 (approx. $60.00 US) back in Feb. to help them get their businesses up and running. Most of them had their loans paid down to only K60,000 left to pay! It provided their families with enough income to help sustain them. Some of the ladies had vegtable stands, while others provided tailor services. One even had a fresh fish market but she was all sold out! I will try to keep you informed as we monitor the progress of this program. This may be a great way to get some of you involved.

Those tomatoes are better than anyhting I have seen here this summer.

We finally got a bit of rain here in northern IL. It has rained 3 of the last 6 days for about 2 inches.
