Many new relationships

It has been hard to find time to write lately. Although the diesel shortage has kept us close to home we have had many visitors by foot. A young man of 20 came by a couple of weeks ago looking for help in going to college. ACTION does not sponsor children or young adults for school but we found out that John is living on the streets. He is an orphan who somehow was sponsored through high school/boarding school but now has no place to live or a way to go to college. He had a good letter of recommendation from his pastor and is involved in the church. Unfortunately there isn't anyone in the small church who could help him. There are numerous organizations helping children under 18 years old but once they get beyond that age, unless they find work, they will be on the street. The unemployment rate is somewhere around 65% so there are about 1 million young adults like him. We have been trying to decide how we could help. There are so many in need how does one decide? We could have a line outside our gate a mile long. We concluded that God has brought this one so we began by giving him a meal and asked the Street Kid guys to check on him on the street. Our Zambian friends who have talked with him are impressed with John and tell us this one needs a chance. We are pleased to tell you that one of our guards/gardeners Pasto Martin Phiri decided to take him in and adopt him into his family. "This poor man called, and the LORD heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles." Psalm 34:6

Keith and Linda-
My mom sent me a quote this week that fits so well with your story of John.
St. Augustine said "Since you cannot do good to all, you are to pay special attention to those who, by accidents of time, or place, or circumstance, are brought into closer connection with you."
P.S. Keith, it sounds like you did a great job at the pulpit! You and your children are so blessed to have each other.
Take care and God bless to you all-
