International birthday party

Recently we went to a birthday party for a missionary girl near Heather's age. Most of the guests were people from the school where the children went. What was so nice was to meet people who live in Zambia but aren't missionaries. One couple has a small orphanage and school for 10 boys. The husband is from Belgium and his wife is of (India) Indian descent yet is from South Africa. Another couple have lived here most of their lives yet the wife is Sri Lankan in origin. Her husband's mother is from Malawi and his father from England. The husband has a business here and the wife raises their children. She loves Zambia and said what a wonderful place it is to raise children. We enjoyed the conversation, the birthday party and our international experience. Coming from small town America we are amazed at how international Lusaka is. Even going to the grocery store I often see people from all over the world and wonder what they are doing in Lusaka.
