Life around Lusaka

I thought these might be of interest in seeing what some of Lusaka looks like. This blog is difficult to get photos and text in the right places so I will just make a few comments. Compounds are poor areas or communities where the majority of people live. I tried to photograph a typical house but the 'road' was so rough I couldn't even get it horizontal. Children are everywhere in the compounds. If they see a vehicle, especially full of muzungus (white people) they come running to see. The blue and white vans are mini-busses which transport people all over the city. Notice the BP sign, now diesel is over $5/gallon. One photo is of tombstones for sale on a busy street corner. There is always a reminder of how common death is. Another photo of a market shows how creative and talented the Zambians are.
