During our safari we met Mphamvu, a female elephant. Her name means strong, powerful. When she saw us she came running to the jeep so fast I could barely get photos. She immediately began to grope Chunda's with her trunk and then Linda. The children were terrified as they thought she was going to make off with their mama! To them she was huge, scarey and kept touching us with her trun

k and tusks. None of us were expecting it. The children screamed and cried so much that the adults and guides were laughing at the ridiculousness of the situation. I had to cover Olivia's eyes so she couldn't see it and Kelly kept saying, "naughty elephant!" We finally got the kids calmed down and got last photos with the men sitting on her. If someone had video taped this we are sure that we would have won "America's Funniest Home Videos"! Later we were on the lawn of the lodge and the keeper came riding by on her. The moment Blessing saw her he burst into tears and Olivia did as well. They may grow up not liking elephants and never know why! So the highlight for the adults was the good laugh at The ELEPHANT but the kids would rather not see that 'naughty elephant' again.

You went on Safari! Wow that must have been a blast for you and the kids. Keith how was the elephant ride? Linda are you still alive:)! How are the girls doing and of course the Belarusian tornado Alek? Please tell Kelly, Heather, Olivia and Alek hello from me! I hope to post some Zambia pictures on my blog soon.
Hi to you all, I haven't had much time to keep up on your blog lately. I don't know if you knew my oldest sister Frances had open heart surgery the first of the month. She had 4 bypasses but is really doing wonderful. Her daughter Teresa's husband Pat Grieves died last night Sept. 15th. He has been battling cancer for five years. He was 54 years old. They have 2 sons who are married with children and 1 daughter who just turned 18 and is still in school. Please pray for them.
The pictures of the safari are wonderful. I guess thet is why they have elephants in a cage in the zoo's. You don't want to get too up close and personal.
Well I had better close for now, Don should be home soon and I have some work to do.
We love you all and send hugs and kisses.
Love Grandma Pat
